TERMS AND CONDITIONS FICO 2011

OLAVARRIA INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 2011

The Municipal Government of Olavarría and the International Short Film Festival organization Comitee (FICO), would like to invite film makers around the world to the fiveth FICO edition, to be held in the city of Olavarría (Argentina) from June 17 to 20, 2011.

All the material which does not follow the terms and conditions expressed herein will be considered unfit and it will be out of the competition.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

A- All short films made since 2009 to the present day will be accepted, filmed using any medium can be presented but only DVD format will be received (Pal Norm).

B- There are no nationality restrictions for the authors. All those shorts made in languages other than Spanish will have to be properly subtitled.

C- Only two short films will be accepted per author and per category. Pieces presented in previous editions of the Festival will not be received.

D- The deadline is December 03rd 2010. Films presented after this deadline will not be accepted. For those films sent by regular mail, we will count the day it was dispatched.

E- For each short film, there has to be two copies (in DVD format, Pal norm, Region 4or 0 or free) without main menu or additional features. The DVD will have to be labeled with, title, category, and year and director´s name.
Besides, a cd containing the following information:
-Two (2) stills of the short film on 300 dpi quality minimum
-One (1) photograph of the director
-One (1) image of the short film´s poster
-One (1) digital copy of the Identity card, or passport of the person responsible for enrolment in the festival.
-A trailer of the film (if any)
-A complete enrolment form
The short films will not be returned and their sole participation in the festival constitutes acceptance to include the material in the public video library.

F- The films can participate in any of the following categories:
·         Fiction (maximum length 25 minutes, titles included)
·         Documentary (maximum length 25 minutes, titles included)
·         Animation (maximum length 25 minutes, titles included)

G- The film makers will authorize the use of the material for promotion of the Festival. On the other hand, they take full responsibility for the authorship of the material and they commit themselves not to present any material over which they have no rights of use. The Organizing Committee will not be held responsible for the material presented or improper use of copyright on behalf of the authors.

H-There will be a first round of selection of the material. Those films selected will participate in different sections, namely: Official Competition, Local Competition and Official Exhibition.
The list of selected material will be published on the first week of April; those film makers whose work is selected will be informed via email on the exhibition date.

I- The Organizing Committee will name a panel of judges of personalities related to the visual arts, and will award the following prizes:
BEST DOCUMENTARY Award ($ 5000. Five-thousand pesos)
BEST FICTION ($ 5000. Five-thousand pesos)
BEST ANIMATION ($ 5000. Five-thousand pesos)
BEST LOCAL SHORT FILM ($ 1000. One thousand pesos)
MENTIONS (Diplomas)
The Contest can be declared void and the judge´s decision will be final.
The winners will be announced during the award Ceremony on the last day of the Festival, April 24, 2011.
The winners will have to include the Festival´s logo on the starting credits of their films.

J- The selected material for the Official Competition and the Offical Exhibition will be exhibited during FICO´s fiveth edition, to be held between the 20th and 24th April, in Olavarría, Province of Buenos Aires.

K- Material´s reception:
The material can be delivered in person or sent by postal mail to Casa de la Cultura y
Turismo. Coronel Suarez 2924 CP (7400). Olavarria, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Open from: 7 am to 1 p.m.

L- Enrolment is free of charge. The shipping costs of the material will be at the expense of the participants, as well as any other charge related to it (insurance, customs taxes, etc). The Festival will not cover any cost or expense related to the shipping of the films.
It is strongly recommended for those shorts sent from abroad to be labeled ¨ “Sin valor comercial/ No commercial value – Para usos culturales únicamente / for cultural purposes only”. In case there has to be a customs statement or declaration, please indicate ¨Sin valor comercial / No commercial value” or a cost under U$S 3 (Three U.S Dollars)

Agreeing to participate in the Festival presumes complete knowledge and acceptance of the terms and conditions of the 5th International Short Film Festival of Olavarría. Any question not addressed in the terms and conditions will be evaluated by the Organizing Committee.
